Your Role At Batesville
As a Content Writer, you will be responsible for developing effective messaging and communication strategies, including press releases, media pitches, podcasts, and other communications to support our public relations. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, collaborates cross‑functionally, and uses AI to support SEO guidance, article and industry research, and content brief writing.
What You’ll Do
- Write and develop compelling content including press releases, articles, op-eds, media pitches, e-books, white papers, customer stories, website copy, company bios, presentations, speeches, talking points, video scripts, and other communications.
- Compose new content based on research, organizing facts related to the assigned topic or what’s relevant to the death‑care industry and consumers.
- Leverage AI for content briefs and article research and writing.
- Edit and proofread content for mistakes to ensure copy meets editorial guidelines and brand standards.
- Ensure all content is optimized for SEO, including keyword placement, title tags, meta descriptions, and other on‑page elements.
- Execute the PR strategy to build brand visibility, ensuring it aligns with our overall marketing strategy and business objectives.
- Develop and execute crisis communications and preemptive communications.
- Execute high‑impact media coverage in industry‑specific and consumer‑focused publications.
- Develop thought‑leadership articles and pieces for Batesville’s innovation strategies and stay ahead of industry trends and emerging opportunities.
- Collaborate and brainstorm with designers, digital marketing, creative, product managers, and key stakeholder teams for new ideas, strategies, and execution.
- Other duties as required.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing; and a minimum of 5 years related public relations or communications experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent English skills and writing capabilities in various styles, formats, and tones.
- Strong project management skills, ability to prioritize projects based on client needs, and keep multiple projects progressing in a quick, high‑quality fashion.
- Highly adaptable to change and ability to work in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Effective communication skills to partner with internal stakeholders and manage relationships with third‑party marketing agencies.
- Proven record of accomplishment in developing and executing successful marketing campaigns.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and storytelling skills to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Adherence to brand guidelines.
- In‑depth knowledge and understanding of writing for SEO.
How You’ll Be Rewarded
- Base salary range of $58,000 to $70,000 per year, with actual compensation based on qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
