Department Summary

The Government Relations (GR) team advocates for immigration-related legislative, regulatory, and policy reforms before Congress and the executive branch, consistent with AILA’s principles and priorities. The GR team tracks the development of law, policy, and practice and prepares resources and information for nearly 17,000 AILA members.

Position Summary

The Content Specialist will play a key role in supporting the Government Relations (GR) and Communications (Comms) teams by curating and managing GR and Comms-related content to enhance visibility, engagement, and impact. This position will involve monitoring AILA communities to understand member needs while working closely with the GR, Comms, and Marketing Departments to ensure timely and effective dissemination of advocacy, practice resources, litigation materials, political engagement tools, press statements, blogs, and relevant articles. The Content Specialist will also monitor government policy and regulatory updates, assist with maintaining the GR team's online presence, and contribute to broader communications initiatives as needed.

  3. Create and distribute postings for the GR team to ensure consistent and timely communication.

Government Policy Monitoring:

  1. Monitor government policy, regulatory updates, and stakeholder announcements to identify relevant information.
  2. Manage the posting of updates on AILA.org and share them with appropriate listservs.

Website and Featured Content Management:

  2. Work with the AILA’s Marketing team to identify and highlight key content for promotion.
  3. Track and manage AILA sign-on letters and congressional endorsements, ensuring timely updates and postings.

Resource Tracking and Updates:

  1. Update the Trend Tracker with current information.
  2. Assist in curating practice pointers, alerts, liaison minutes, policy briefs, and other resources.
  3. Identify existing resources that require updates, recirculation, or removal from the website.

Additional Support:

  1. Assist with posting Calls for Examples to engage the broader community.
  2. Provide support to the Comms Department as needed for broader organizational messaging and campaigns.
  3. Participate in relevant team and committee meetings and provide support at GR Team events.

Requirements:

  4. Strong understanding of SEO techniques to enhance content visibility and improve search engine performance.
  5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a portfolio of published work that demonstrates proficiency in crafting compelling, clear, and engaging content.
  6. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Government Relations, Communications, and Marketing.
  7. Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and familiarity with digital media platforms.
  8. Proficiency in analyzing data to measure content performance and adjust strategies accordingly.
  9. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  10. Knowledge of current trends in content creation, digital media, and governmental policy/regulatory updates.
  11. Occasional travel may be required for this role, including attendance at meetings, conferences, or events as necessary to support the organization’s initiatives and objectives.
