Job summary

Coast360 Federal Credit Union is seeking a Consumer Loan Officer to review, underwrite, and authorize consumer loan applications within approved lending guidelines. You will assess borrower finances and communicate decisions to members, while delivering exceptional service.

In this role, you'll help members access credit, explain factors affecting financing, and support branch activities during on-site events. Strong attention to detail and regulatory awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years of related loan officer or collection officer experience preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Review and underwrite consumer loan applications in accordance with the Credit Union's Loan Policy, procedures, and established underwriting guidelines.
• Analyze borrower financial information and calculate monthly income by reviewing pay stubs, employment verification, tax returns, and other supporting documentation.
• Communicate directly with members to obtain additional information or documentation needed to complete loan applications and keep the lending process moving efficiently.
• Communicate credit decisions to members professionally and promptly through in-person conversations, telephone calls, written correspondence, or other appropriate methods.
• Provide basic credit guidance and education to members, including explaining credit-related factors that may affect their ability to obtain financing.
• Support branch and lending operations during on-site financing activities and promotional events conducted at locations outside Credit Union premises.
• Maintains accurate records and documentation by completing data entry, filing, photocopying, faxing, correspondence, and other general administrative duties associated with loan processing.
• Identifies opportunities to meet members' broader financial needs by educating and cross-selling members on relevant Credit Union products and services.
• Collaborates with branch and lending teams to provide a seamless, professional member experience throughout the application and decision-making process.
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.

Education and/or Experience

• A high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
• Two to three years of related experience, primarily gained through prior experience as a Loan Officer and/or Collection Officer, is preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
