Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking an Associate Account Executive to join the Construction Services team in New Jersey. You will build relationships with agents and brokers, analyze risk, and provide insurance and surety solutions to customers.

In this role you will underwrite and negotiate customer accounts, work with leadership to execute underwriting strategies, and travel to meet external partners to grow the book of business while supporting Travelers' risk appetite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• One to three years of underwriting experience.
• Knowledge of products, the regulatory environment, and local market conditions.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to analyze financial data and risk to support underwriting decisions.

Responsibilities

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of a typically smaller assigned book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate routine customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Partner with leadership, execute underwriting strategies across your book of business to achieve profit and growth objectives.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Foster and maintain relationships with external partners by regularly meeting in person with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products with a goal of writing and retaining accounts consistent with our risk appetite. Travel to meetings as needed.
• Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
• Execute agency, region, and group sales plans with guidance from management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
