Travelers is seeking an Associate Account Executive in New Jersey to help underwrite, market, and sell surety solutions within Construction Services. You will build relationships with agents and brokers, evaluate risk, and contribute to profitability across a defined book of business.

The role emphasizes travel to meet with external partners and drive growth while collaborating with internal teams. A bachelor’s degree and underwriting experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• One to three years of underwriting experience.
• Working knowledge of products, regulatory environment, and local market conditions.
• Critical thinking to underwrite, market products, identify financial challenges, and make risk-aligned decisions.
• Strong communication skills with agents and brokers.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, growth, and retention of a smaller assigned book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate routine customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Partner with leadership to execute underwriting strategies across your book of business.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners to identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Maintain relationships with external partners by meeting agents and brokers to market Travelers products and write/retain accounts within risk appetite; travel required.
• Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
• Execute agency, region, and group sales plans with guidance from management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
