Job summary

Travelers Insurance Company in the Edison area seeks an underwriter to join the Construction Services team. You will evaluate risk, analyze financial statements, and build client relationships while aiming to grow a profitable book of business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• One to three years of underwriting experience.
• Knowledge of products, regulations and local market conditions.
• Strong communication and negotiation with agents/brokers.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, growth and retention of a smaller assigned book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate routine customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Partner with leadership to execute underwriting strategies across your book of business.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners to identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Maintain relationships with external partners by meeting with agents and brokers to market Travelers products.
• Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
• Execute agency, region, and group sales plans with management guidance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
