Job summary

ARCO Design/Build, Inc. in Houston, TX is offering a Superintendent Intern/Co-op role that lets you work alongside experienced field leaders on real projects.

You’ll gain exposure to field operations, safety leadership, scheduling, quality control, and documentation while learning to read drawings and coordinate trades. Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program
• Driver's License
• Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethics
• Previous Co-op or intern experience in construction preferred, but not required
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Field Operations – Gain exposure to how ARCO manages daily job site activities from site mobilization through project completion.
• Safety Leadership – Participate in daily safety meetings, job site inspections, and promote a strong safety culture.
• Scheduling & Coordination – Assist with coordinating subcontractor activities and monitoring progress to help keep projects on schedule.
• Quality Control – Observe and support quality inspections to ensure work is completed according to project plans and ARCO standards.
• Trade Coordination – Work with Superintendents and subcontractors to understand sequencing and resolve field issues.
• Progress Documentation – Assist with documenting daily job site activities, taking progress photos, and preparing daily reports.
• Project Meetings – Attend subcontractor coordination meetings, owner walkthroughs, and project planning discussions.
• Plan & Drawing Review – Become familiar with construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings while learning how they are applied in the field.
• Job Site Walks – Conduct site walks with experienced Superintendents to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and verify safety and correctness.
• Training & Learning – Participate in offsite trainings and biweekly learning sessions provided by the Learning and Development team.
• Team Collaboration – Partner with Project Managers and field teams to understand how office and field operations work together to successfully deliver projects.
