Job summary

ARCO Design/Build in Richmond, VA is seeking a Superintendent Intern/Co-op to gain hands-on field experience across the full project lifecycle.

You’ll work with seasoned professionals, participate in safety meetings, scheduling, quality checks, and progress documentation while developing practical knowledge in design/build delivery. This internship offers mentorship, housing stipends where needed, and career-building exposure.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program.
• Driver's License.
• Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethics.
• Previous Co-op or intern experience in construction preferred, but not required.
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to how ARCO manages daily job site activities from site mobilization through project completion.
• Participate in daily safety meetings, job site inspections, and learn how to promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
• Assist with coordinating subcontractor activities and monitoring progress to help keep projects on schedule.
• Observe and support quality inspections to ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, and ARCO standards.
• Work with Superintendents and subcontractors to understand sequencing, resolve field issues, and maintain productive workflows.
• Assist with documenting daily job site activities, taking progress photos, and preparing daily reports.
• Attend subcontractor coordination meetings, owner walkthroughs, and project planning discussions.
