Job summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Safety Specialist for its Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) in Louisville, KY. You will coordinate and implement field safety programs on routine construction projects, conduct site inspections, and lead safety audits to identify hazards and drive abatement.

We value 0-2 years of construction safety experience, a bachelor’s degree (preferred) in safety/health, and strong communication and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a safety and health-related field (Preferred) or equivalent relevant experience.
• 0-2 years construction or related experience required.
• Knowledge of federal, state, local safety regulations.
• Proficiency in MS Office and field safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and implements the field safety program for routine construction projects.
• Conducts regular walk-through inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with laws and Company policies.
• Conducts safety audits on assigned projects by identifying, documenting and recommending abatement of hazardous conditions to clients; uses safety management systems to document findings and closure.
• Performs new hire orientation and oversees drug and alcohol policy compliance.
• Monitors the implementation of prime contractor and subcontractors’ safety programs.
• Attends project pre-planning and progress meetings to discuss safety matters.
• Supports field leadership in safety program implementation and chairs project safety committee when needed.
• Assists in investigation of accidents and discusses root causes and process changes to prevent recurrence.
• Coordinates with injured employees and clinics to ensure timely treatment and return-to-work.
• Monitors site safety incentive program.
