Job summary

JE Dunn Construction’s Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) is seeking a Safety Specialist – Core to lead field safety programs on large Industrial & Manufacturing projects. You will perform site inspections, safety audits, new hire orientations, and coordinate with field leadership to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.

The role requires 0–2 years of construction safety experience, a bachelor’s degree in safety/health (or equivalent), and strong MS Office and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety/health (preferred) or equivalent experience.
• 0–2 years construction or related experience required.
• Strong communication, safety knowledge, and ability to enforce regulations across sites.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and implements the field safety program for routine construction projects.
• Conducts regular walk-through inspections of construction sites for compliance with laws and company policies.
• Conducts safety audits on projects, documents findings, and recommends abatement to clients; uses safety systems to track closure.
• Performs new hire orientation and oversees drug and alcohol policy compliance.
• Monitors prime contractor/subcontractor safety programs and reports to leadership.
• Attends project pre-planning and progress meetings to discuss safety-related matters.
• Supports field leadership in safety program implementation; chairs project safety committees as needed.
• Investigates project-related accidents and identifies root causes with corrective actions.
• Coordinates with injured employees and clinics to ensure timely return-to-work and progress reporting.
• Monitors site safety incentive programs.
