Job summary

Johansen Construction Company is seeking a Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs across all operations. The role ensures compliance with federal regulations and Washington DOSH/L&I while driving a proactive, behavior-based safety culture.

You will partner with executive leadership, project teams, and field personnel to minimize risk, conduct incident investigations, deliver safety training, and maintain our APP, TRIR/DART metrics,

Qualifications

• 5+ years construction safety experience.
• OSHA 30 or OSHA 500.
• Knowledge of OSHA/DOSH/L&I construction health & safety standards.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Self-motivated and committed to a people-based safety program.
• Experience with incident investigations and workers compensation claims.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain Accident Prevention Program (APP).
• Track KPIs (TRIR, DART, EMR, leading indicators).
• Ensure OSHA/DOSH/L&I compliance.
• Conduct audits, inspections, and JHAs.
• Manage subcontractor safety compliance.
• Develop, deliver, and coordinate third party safety training.
• Aid project management teams in hazard recognition and safety analysis.
• Enforce safe work practices and conditions per APP.
• Provide technical assistance and site support for EHS programs.
• Maintain fleet safety program, DOT compliance, FMCSA reporting, and accident investigations.
