Job summary

Qualifications

Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.

Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Construction Safety Specialist to join our team on-site in Charlotte, NC, for an 18-month engagement. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of Health & Safety management are implemented and maintained across active construction sites. The specialist will serve as a key liaison between the Lease Provider and General Contractor, providing expert guidance, conducting regular inspections, monitoring safety performance indicators, and fostering a culture of proactive safety awareness. This is a full-time, onsite position requiring 40 hours per week with no overtime.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in the education and identification of High-Risk Activities (HRA) to the Lease Provider and construction contractor
• Monitor Collaborative Planning conducted by the Lease Provider and/or construction contractor as it relates to identified High-Risk Activities
• Monitor Key Safety Performance Indicators (KPIs) as outlined by the company, Lease Provider, and/or construction contractor
• Assess health and safety implications of situational and schedule changes as they occur during the project and highlight potential issues to relevant parties
• Identify and monitor project Health & Safety performance data to accurately assess project safety status
• Exercise stop-work authority and inform appropriate supervision when immediately dangerous to life and health activities are observed or identified
• Maintain a visible on-site presence and actively participate in health and safety meetings, calls, briefings, surveys, reviews, and audits
• Participate in HRA Meetings, All-Hands Meetings, Work Planning & Coordination Meetings, Energization/Cx Meetings, and Incident Investigation/Review Meetings
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of site Health & Safety planning, including HRA safety planning and implementation
• Assess compliance with agreed KPIs across all project stages and coordinate communication of Health & Safety at all levels
• Conduct high-level reviews of Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS), safe plans of action, and lifting plans
• Review accidents, incidents, and near-miss reports, evaluate findings, and monitor implementation of corrective and preventive measures
• Assess resources provided by contractors to support implementation of their safety management programs
• Encourage and promote Health & Safety initiatives aimed at influencing positive safety behavior on site
• Promote contractor participation in structured Health & Safety recognition schemes by recognized bodies
• Report routinely (daily and weekly) to the company site representative and EHS representative on activities, initiatives, challenges, and control measures
• Conduct a minimum of 3 daily observations and 1 weekly site inspection report on a weekly average basis

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior construction Health & Safety management role
• Proven experience in construction safety management or a closely related field
• Previous experience in data center construction and/or operations strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience conducting site inspections, safety audits, and incident investigations
• OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certification required
• NFPA 70E training required
• Safety certification preferred — CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
• Formal education in construction safety, general industry safety, health and safety management, or a similar discipline preferred
• Membership in a recognized Health & Safety organization (e.g., IOSH), preferably at chartered status or recognized equivalent, is preferred
• Must be able to pass Lease Provider security requirements
• Strong knowledge of Federal, State, and Local safety regulations
• Extensive experience in contractor communications and liaising with design teams and project professionals
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and cloud-based applications
• Ability to assess and interpret Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) and safety plans
• Strong analytical skills for monitoring and reporting on safety KPIs and performance data
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels
• Ability to identify hazards, assess risk, and implement effective corrective measures
• Familiarity with Bluebeam; P6 experience is a plus
• Bilingual proficiency in English and a secondary language is preferred
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
