Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to lead and enforce all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs across commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial construction safety, regulatory compliance, incident prevention, and field safety leadership. This individual will work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure a safe work environment while maintaining compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations and company safety standards.

Locations: Charlotte, NC / Boston, MA / Montgomery, AL

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage site-specific safety programs and procedures.
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Lead project safety orientations for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations; prepare detailed reports and corrective action plans.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing safety training programs.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and enforce project safety requirements.
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and site-specific safety plans.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, logs, and regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning and conduct emergency drills.
  • Partner with project management teams to proactively address safety concerns and improve site safety culture.
  • Track safety metrics, trends, and performance indicators and provide regular reporting to leadership.
  • Support workers' compensation, return-to-work programs, and injury management processes.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of construction safety experience with recent commercial construction project experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Experience managing safety programs on large-scale commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite at active construction projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (required).
  • OSHA 500 Trainer Certification preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), CHST, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience with healthcare, higher education, industrial, manufacturing, or large commercial construction projects.
