Job summary

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a college/university degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field with at least 1 year completed.
• Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
• Desire to work in construction management and learn about construction industry.
• Flexible to work standard business hours and overtime as determined by assignment.
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills including student leadership, volunteerism, or other community involvement.
• Professional and clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Assume personal and professional accountability for own actions and activities.
• Proactive, curious, and eager to learn and participate.
• Able to work independently with direction and supervision, and in a team environment.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Able to take direction, learn and process information quickly, and follow tasks through to completion.
• Proficient computer and data entry skills, Microsoft Office suite of applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing safety programs on site.
• Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices.
• Coordinate safety duties for safety committees and toolbox talks.
• Assist with safety training and orientations.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with company policies.
• Promote safe work practices and compliance with regulations.
• Assist with administration of drug screening programs.
• Assist with preconstruction meetings and documenting meetings.
• Assist with site inspections and developing inspection summaries.
• Maintain safety records (logs, training, MSDS, incident investigations, metrics).
• Assist with worker orientation and recording participation.
• Other duties as assigned and under direction of supervisor.
