Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Houston is seeking an Entry-level Environmental Health and Safety professional to support safety policy enforcement on a construction project and assist with risk management activities. A Bachelor’s degree is required and at least 1 year of related safety experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from accredited program in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or related field with at least 1 year of construction safety experience.
• Basic knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques.
• Familiar with Federal, State, and Local EH&S regulations.
• Familiar with general construction operations.
• Ability to identify safety exposures and propose corrective actions.
• Demonstrate leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to take direction and follow through with commitments.
• Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Analytical thinking, good judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work in a non-structured environment and adjust priorities.
• Proficient computer and data entry skills, MS Office and collaboration tools.
• Limited travel may be required; access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with enforcing and adhering to EH&S policies and risk management on construction projects.
• Assist with safety training for workers and with Building LIFE programs.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with regulations and owner contracts.
• Review subcontractor training per OSHA standards.
• Promote safe work practices and conditions per regulations and requirements.
• Assist with drug screening administration per company and owner requirements.
• Coordinate preconstruction meetings with supervisor.
• Conduct effective worker orientation and record participation.
• Gather Pre-Task Plans and Job Hazard Analyses for project contractors.
• Maintain safety records (PTPs, JHAs, training, OSHA 300, MSDS, incidents).
• Conduct safety meetings and issue minutes as directed.
• Maintain log of subcontractor toolbox safety meetings and provide reports.
• Conduct site safety audits and inspections with corrective action recommendations.
• Identify and report safety violations, especially imminent dangers.
• Support other activities and duties as assigned.
