Job summary

Turner Construction Co. in Halethorpe, MD is seeking an entry-level Environmental Health and Safety assistant to support enforcement of safety policies on construction projects.

You will assist with training, review subcontractor safety programs for OSHA compliance, help promote safe work practices, and maintain safety records and reports. A Bachelor’s Degree is required and some travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety/engineering or related field.
• Familiar with safety regulations and OSHA standards.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Able to work with cross-functional teams on-site.

Responsibilities

• Assist in training for safe work practices and EH&S programs.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for OSHA compliance.
• Review subcontractor training per OSHA standards.
• Promote safe work practices and conditions on site.
• Assist in drug screening program administration.
• Coordinate preconstruction meetings with supervisor.
• Assist with worker orientation and record participation.
• Gather PTPS and JHAs for contractors per requirements.
• Maintain safety records and incident metrics.
• Hold safety meetings and document minutes.
• Maintain toolbox meeting logs and reports to supervisor.
• Conduct site safety audits and issue corrective actions.
• Identify and report safety violations or imminent dangers.
• Other duties as assigned.
