Job summary

The Walsh Group is seeking a Quality Manager I for a Dallas, TX project. You will lead the quality program, mentor staff, and manage inspections, testing and documentation to ensure safe, compliant and profitable project execution.

You will establish and monitor KPIs, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with owners, subcontractors and design partners to manage risk and quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• AEC Bachelor's degree or equivalent field experience with relevant certifications.
• Current certification required.
• USACE/NAVFAC/NRC Construction Quality Management certification preferred.
• Industry certifications for testing and inspection as required to review and certify procedures.
• Limited travel for projects.
• Minimum 7 years of AEC experience, with 3 years in a Quality role.
• Strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of standards and publications relevant to the duties.

Responsibilities

• Quality champion for a project or multiple projects, responsible for quality of works, materials, documentation and close-out to ensure safe, quality, efficient, effective and profitable project execution.
• Coaches, mentors and trains project staff in quality management principles and project-specific requirements; mentors Quality staff to advance careers.
• Leads quality processes such as work planning, pre-activity meetings, material management, Quality Incident Reports, lessons learned and follow-up inspections.
• Establishes, monitors and reports on KPIs and QIRs to ensure continuous improvement; analyzes trends and provides improvement strategies.
• Routinely audits project quality programs and provides feedback on major QIRs, relationships, perceptions, and recurring non-conformances.
• Directs inspection, testing and documentation of the works; schedules inspection and testing with coordination between operations, consultants, labs and Client.
• Creates and implements project-specific inspection/test plans and QC plans; reviews material specs such as concrete mix design and thermal control.
• Responsible for risk management strategy to improve profitability and efficiency via process management and risk mitigation.
• Maintains relationships with owners, clients, subcontractors, design partners and stakeholders to support project partnering and issue resolution.
• Supports Site Safety to ensure compliance with safety procedures and goals.
• Monitors project quality costs including resources and rework, and reports to optimize billing, risk reporting and testing accuracy.
