Job description

Summary of Job Purpose and Function:

  • The Construction Manager will oversee and coordinate various construction projects/programs from start to finish, ensuring that schedules and budgets are followed.

  • May be responsible for overseeing and executing the bidding process. May select, contract, and oversee contractors for all construction projects.

  • May supervise each contractor and subcontractor to ensure that work meets quality standards and adheres to specifications.

  • Responsible for the overall direction, administration, completion, and financial outcome of a construction project.

  • Provides updates to senior leadership on scope, budget and schedule.

  • Maintains satisfactory relationships with hospital leadership and staff, contracts, subcontractors, and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct periodic site visits to monitor the progress of construction, review status of work completed, review that work is generally proceeding in a good manner and in general accordance with the approved drawings and specifications.

  • Work with contractors to develop and maintain project schedule and delivery dates.

  • Prepares and submits budget estimates and regularly communicates with internal team concerning budget progress and costs.

  • Ensures adherence to the budget and, when unexpected complications or issues arise, makes quick and necessary adjustments.

  • Reviews and approves consultant and contractor invoices and approves change orders to contract documents.

  • Oversees contract negotiations, revisions, and additions and adherence by all parties.

  • Ensures safety standards and guidelines are followed on the job site and that all safety codes are met.

  • Collaborates with owner, staff, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve problems, including work procedures, complaints, and construction or design issues.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations.

  • Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.

  • Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.

  • Thorough understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma / Bachelors Degree preferred.

  • At least 15 years of construction experience required.

  • Experience in design & construction activities for hospital buildings & medical offices preferred.

  • Proficient in MS Suite

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

  • Requires up to 25% travel.

  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.

  • Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the job site.

  • Experience in design and construction activities for hospital and medical office buildings preferred.

Additional Information

Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary for this full-time position is $115,000 - $130,000/Annually.
