Job summary

UHS seeks a seasoned Project Manager to lead construction and renovation initiatives across its locations. You will oversee all phases from planning through occupancy and maintain a strong on-site presence to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders while tracking budgets, schedules, and scope. Healthcare environment experience is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of project management experience in construction/healthcare environments.
• PMP or CAPM certification preferred; certification within 12–24 months of hire.

Job description

• Lead construction, renovation, and facility improvement projects across UHS locations
• Maintain a regular on-site presence to monitor construction progress, conduct walkthroughs, address issues, and ensure quality standards
• Manage all project phases, including planning, design, budgeting, construction, and occupancy
• Develop and execute project plans, schedules, budgets, and status reports
• Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
• Ensure construction activities comply with safety regulations, building codes, healthcare requirements, and UHS standards
• Identify and mitigate project risks, delays, and budget impacts
• Lead the end-to-end project lifecycle from scope definition through execution, delivery, and transition to operations
• Gather requirements and define project deliverables with stakeholders
• Manage timelines, milestones, resource allocations, scope, schedule, and budget through change control
• Communicate project status, risks, and updates to leadership and stakeholders
• Engage hospital departments on-site to identify risks and minimize disruption to patient care
• Coordinate department relocations related to construction or renovation projects
• Evaluate and recommend solutions for scope, cost, and timeline changes
• Close projects, including handoff to operations and stakeholder acceptance

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Four (4) years of Project Management experience
• PMI (PMP) Certification within 12–24 months of hire
• Demonstrated experience managing construction, renovation, facility modernization, or capital improvement projects
• Strong understanding of construction processes, project scheduling, budgeting, and contractor management
• Ability to effectively oversee projects in the field and maintain a visible on-site presence throughout construction
• Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and managing projects within occupied buildings or complex operating environments
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Healthcare construction or healthcare facilities experience is highly desirable
• Five (5) years of healthcare experience preferred
• Three (3) years Construction and/or Facilities Management experience preferred
• Project Management Certification (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) preferred
