City of New York, Brooklyn, seeks a Borough Planner in the Roadway Repair & Maintenance division to inspect and plan roadway projects, coordinate with city agencies, and manage field duties. The role emphasizes compliance, reporting, and stakeholder communication, with a strong emphasis on delivering safe, durable infrastructure.

Responsibilities include managing inspections for events, maintaining records, and supporting capital projects.

Competenze

• High school diploma and five years of full-time experience on construction projects costing at least $300,000.
• One year of experience plus a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction or related field.
• One year of experience plus a professional license (PE or architectural license).
• Five years total education and experience combining education and work as described above.
• 30 semester credits may substitute for one year of experience up to three years.

Mansioni

• Conduct technical inspections of roadway, pavement, sidewalk, sewer and related infrastructure.
• Inspect roadway conditions and coordinate repairs for marathons, parades and events.
• Coordinate inspections with HIQA, DEP, DOB and City agencies.
• Investigate complaints and document findings; refer to authorities or contractors.
• Review and resolve issues from calls and written correspondence.
• Use Siebel to retrieve, track, and respond to complaints.
• Use NYCStreets to obtain permit activity and related data.
• Maintain records of roadway conditions, wear and maintenance notes.
• Prepare reports and summaries based on inspection findings.
• Conduct pre- and post-inspections for milling and paving work.
• Update Mosaics with pothole repair reports and related data.
• Monitor roadway conditions and follow up on outstanding issues.
• Appear as a witness in court when required.
• Operate a passenger vehicle for field assignments and meetings.
• Oversee in-house capital projects and budget matters.
• Identify local planning issues and develop recommendations.
• Perform other related planning, inspection, and admin duties.
