Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance seeks a Construction Project Intern for Summer 2027 to support the real estate division. You will act as owner’s representative on construction and facilities projects and assist with design reviews and coordination with contractors.

You’ll collaborate with facilities, security, and contract management teams, while developing planning and communication skills relevant to commercial construction.

Qualifications

• Students should be enrolled and entering their junior or senior year in college.
• A major in construction management or civil engineering is preferred.
• Above-average communication skills (written and verbal).
• General understanding of commercial construction means and methods.
• Ability to read and interpret floor plans.
• Familiar with software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Procore or PlanGrid.
• Competency to learn new software tools.

Responsibilities

• Act as owner’s representative on a variety of small- to medium-scale construction and facilities projects.
• Participate in design meetings, perform plan and logistics review, and coordinate work with construction contractors.
• Communicate with design and construction teams, and Company management.
• Work with other departments in Auto-Owners real estate division, including facilities, security, and contract management.
• Assist in non-construction projects within the real estate division as needed.
