Job summary

Lefferts Investments in Miami seeks a Project Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations for its construction and development projects, ensuring accurate oversight, cost control, and reporting across assigned projects.

The role partners with development teams and senior leadership to drive close processes, budgeting, cash flow management, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting or finance experience.
• Experience in construction or project accounting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and capital project controls.
• Experience with job costing, budgeting, and project reporting.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage all project accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost accounting, compliance, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Lead the monthly close process for assigned projects, including review and approval of financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and schedules.
• Oversee job cost accounting and ensure project costs are accurately recorded and reconciled to budgets.
• Review contractor invoices, pay apps, lien waivers, change orders, and draw schedules for accuracy.
• Coordinate construction loan draws and funding with lenders and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses; identify risks and overruns and advise management.
• Monitor project cash flow and funding needs; coordinate debt and equity funding.
• Provide financial oversight across the project lifecycle with development, construction, and asset management teams.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, controls, and standards; strengthen processes.
• Coordinate with lenders, investors, auditors, tax advisors, and contractors.
• Prepare quarterly reports and support audits, tax compliance, and lender/investor reporting.
• Drive process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Support CFO with project-related analysis and strategic initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
