Job summary

JGM in Chicago is seeking a Project Engineer to support planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. You will work with the Construction Manager to keep projects safe, on schedule, on budget, and compliant with contract documents.

The role emphasizes reviewing drawings, submittals, RFIs, cost tracking, and vendor coordination, with site visits, safety duties, and report preparation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years of construction experience preferred.
• Experience with FF&E coordination, inventory; including procurement tracking, vendor management, delivery logistics, and installation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software (e.g., Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam).
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination of construction activities.
• Review and distribute construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs.
• Track and manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
• Monitor project progress and identify potential schedule or budget impacts.
• Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting agendas and minutes.
• Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules and cost tracking reports.
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, and company standards.
• Support procurement of materials and equipment and coordinate deliveries.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with safety requirements.
• Assist with quality control inspections and resolution of construction issues.
• Prepare project reports, closeout documentation, as-built drawings, and operation and maintenance manuals.
• Promote and maintain a safe working environment in accordance with OSHA and company safety policies.
