We are currently searching for an experienced Construction Project Engineer to support our West Gulf Region located in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, LA.

What you’ll be doing:

• Serving as Owner’s representative on assigned projects
• Leading a staff of engineers and technicians during the construction phases of projects
• Documenting projects as required according to owner’s Standards
• Creating pay estimates to the contractor
• Interpreting plans and specifications
• Negotiating contract changes
• Overseeing QA of construction projects
• Communicating with both internal and external stakeholder
• Overseeing material sampling and testing program

What you need to have:

• 5+ years of experience in construction project technical/management experience for Heavy Civil and Transportation construction
• Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
• Professional engineer (PE) license in LA. 4 years of post PE licensure engineering experience
• Excellent skills in identifying and solving complex problems
• Experience in administering heavy civil construction projects and reviewing plans and specifications for constructability
• The ability to mentor and train others
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license.
• A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
