Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of construction job costing on a large project and several smaller ones. You will work with the Project Manager to ensure accurate accounting, risk management, and timely billings.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience) and 3–5 years of project accounting experience, with strong analytical and communication skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3-5 years of project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong accounting knowledge.
• Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
• Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
• Processes project accounts payable and subcontracts payable.
• Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.
• Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through jobs cost tracking reports.
• Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information.
• Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.
