Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of construction job costing for a large project and several smaller ones. You will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely, accurate accounting and risk management across the project life cycle.

Responsibilities include compiling monthly billings, analyzing costs vs budget, processing payables, and ensuring vendor compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3–5 years of project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong accounting knowledge.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
• Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
• Processes project accounts payable and subcontracts payable.
• Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.
• Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through job cost tracking reports.
• Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
• Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.
