Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Construction Coordinator to manage and coordinate assigned projects within our service territory. You will work with plant management, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant construction activities.

The role requires strong leadership, project coordination, and communication skills, with extensive field exposure and the ability to travel.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Construction Management or Engineering Technology or related field.
• High school diploma with relevant experience also acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and inspect work to ensure safety, environmental policy compliance, and construction per drawings and permits.
• Coordinate activities of team, contractors, vendors, and regulators.
• Support and enforce AEP Safety Policies to promote a safe working environment.
• Assist in pre-mobilization activities and development of work plans.
• Ensure drawings and designs are issued and available to support construction.
• Resolve design conflicts with field constraints and provide field solutions.
• Interface with plant personnel to align construction with plant outage schedules.
• Identify field-purchased material needs and support procurement.
• Monitor quality and schedule adherence of contractors; notify about deficiencies.
• Provide training and guidance to team members.
• Seek SME input to validate information and avoid assumptions.
