Job summary

Mortenson in North Carolina seeks an Assistant Project Manager to partner with the Project Manager from bid preparation through final client acceptance, leading and mentoring the project team.

You will coordinate with Preconstruction on estimates and schedules, manage subcontractors, and ensure safety and timely completion of projects with a focus on cost control, contracts, and buyouts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of related previous experience.
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to be on project assignments in the North Carolina region.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform cost control and financial management.
• Work with Preconstruction on project estimate and schedule.
• Coordinate scopes of work and review pay applications, change requests, and other project financial documentation.
• Draft client proposals and manage contracts/subcontracts.
• Provide direction to the project team for safe and timely completion.
• Lead meetings with subcontractors related to project coordination and buyout.
• Mentor and coach project team members and manage performance.
• Implement a quality plan ensuring design and construction criteria are met.
