Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to partner with the project manager from bid preparation through final client acceptance. You will lead, coach, and mentor project team members to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

You will perform cost control, support preconstruction estimates and scheduling, coordinate scopes of work, manage subcontractors, and ensure effective communication across stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction-related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of related experience.
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to manage complex projects.
• Detail-oriented organization of multiple tasks.
• Understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Proficient in MS Office and project software.
• Strong customer service and communication.
• Willingness to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Perform cost control and financial management.
• Collaborate with Preconstruction on estimates and schedule.
• Coordinate scopes of work and review pay applications and change orders.
• Lead with the Project Manager or Construction Executive.
• Draft client proposals and manage subcontractor awards.
• Provide direction to project team for safe, timely completion.
• Mentor and coach project engineers and field staff.
• Lead project buyout and meetings for coordination.
• Ensure compliance with Mortenson policies and inclusivity.
