What you will do

The Construction Project Coordinator is responsible for evaluating and assessing information necessary to construct the aspects of construction projects. This role requires keen oversight project documentation compliance. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in project control methodologies and strong analytical skills to provide accurate and timely information for decision-making while working remotely.

How you will do it

This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and involves collaborating closely with our project teams and trade partnersvia virtual communication tools.

  • Analyze project performance data, including schedule adherence and cost variances through digital platforms.

  • Prepare and present regular progress reports to project stakeholders, emphasizing key metrics and issues.

  • Establish risk management protocols that include identification, documentation, mitigation, and tracking of potential risks on the project. Additionally, evaluate potential cost and schedule impacts of identified risks.

  • Monitor risk factors and implement contingency plans as necessary

  • Coordinate with the project team to address and resolve issues promptly

  • Ensure all project documentation is accurate, current, and compliant with company policies and industry regulations.

  • Facilitateassessments and reviews.

  • Provide technical support and guidance on project control processes.

  • Attend project meetings and contribute to discussions on project performance and strategy.

  • Implement cost control measures to mitigate financial risks and manage change orders effectively.

  • Monitor progress against the schedule, identify potential delays, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the company's contracts and understand all parties involved.

  • Understand and implement accepted Planning & Scheduling Best Practices.

  • Critique, create, and recommend improvements to departmental policies and procedures.

  • Develop and deliver specialized Planning, Scheduling, and other Project Controls training for Johnson Controls, Inc.

  • Create documentation such as RFIs and client correspondence related to contractual notification provisions.

  • Interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure submittals and shop drawings are approved.

  • Prepare subcontract scopes and contracts.

  • Overseeing the close-out process. Preparing final records for the project such as Requests for Information (RFI's), close-out records, warranties, as-builts, Operations and Maintenance manuals (O&Ms), attic stock, and spare parts, and evaluating information to ensure compliance with contract documents.

What we look for

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar or 5 years of equivalent experience.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and reliability of output.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced remote team environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.

  • Knowledge of construction industry standards, practices, and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly motivated individual with strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with large-scale or complex construction projects.

  • Familiarity with contract management and procurement processes.

  • Experience with Mechanical Retrofits, HVAC controls, BAS management, Fire management, and Security management systems is desired, particularly HVAC.
