M. J. Electric, LLC is seeking a qualified Project Accountant to join our construction accounting team.

This role oversees financial management of designated projects, coordinates with project managers, and ensures timely financial reporting and forecasting. Headquartered in Downer's Grove with occasional travel to Chesterton, IN, the position requires a Bachelor's in Business, Accounting, or Finance and 1–3 years of construction experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and data collection for financial reports.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with team members.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and JDE software.
• Ability to analyze data and deliver accurate reporting under deadlines.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills; 1–3 years in construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial health of specific projects: track costs, budgets, variances.
• Collaborate with project managers to provide financial guidance.
• Prepare customer financial reporting and forecasts.
• Analyze monthly forecast reports and variances for reasonableness.
• Oversee contracts, budgets, change orders, and purchase orders in JDE.
• Process invoices, payments, and change orders; ensure contract terms compliance.
• Monitor Accounts Receivable and assist with past-due invoices.
• Coordinate project set-ups, closures, and weekly time submissions.
