Job summary

M. J. Electric, LLC is seeking a Project Accountant to manage financials for construction projects and provide accounting support to operations. This role ensures accurate budgeting, forecasting, and cost control across assigned projects.

You will work closely with project managers, handle contracts and change orders in JDE, and assist with monthly forecasts, variances, and audit preparation. A degree in business, accounting, or finance is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting and forecasting methods.
• Experience with construction billing and AIA forms.
• Ability to collect data and develop financial reports.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Detail oriented with solid time management.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial health of projects by tracking costs and budgets.
• Provide financial advice to project managers and teams.
• Prepare monthly forecast reports and variance explanations.
• Investigate revenue and profit variances for accurate reporting.
• Enter contracts, budgets, change orders, and POs into JDE.
• Process invoices, payments and change orders timely.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms and billing schedules.
• Monitor AR aging and assist with past-due invoices.
• Coordinate job set ups and closeouts in a timely manner.
• Oversee weekly craft labor time submissions for accuracy.
• Support Project Controller with forecasts and variance reporting.
• Ensure adherence to revenue risk controls and audits.
