Job summary

LHH is seeking a construction Project Accountant in San Francisco who excels in Excel and understands the financial side of projects inside and out. You will track job costs, reconcile budgets, and partner with project managers to drive accurate reporting and forecasting.

The role focuses on payroll, complex billing, and maintaining WIP schedules while supporting month-end close and financial reporting. Strong construction accounting experience is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of project accounting experience, preferably within construction or a related industry.
• Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, percent complete accounting, and construction billing.
• Advanced or strong intermediate Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis).
• Experience with construction or project-based ERP systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll.
• Prepare and process billing (progress, time and materials, and AIA), including AR and collections support.
• Monitor and maintain WIP schedules, percent complete, and budget-to-actual reporting.
• Review and reconcile subcontractor costs, purchase orders, vendor invoices, and change orders.
• Support month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Partner with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate project financials and forecasting.
