Job summary

All In One Accounting is seeking a Senior Construction Accountant who can independently manage complex construction client work—from multi‑phase residential projects to commercial GC operations—while mentoring junior teammates and upholding high standards in financial reporting.

You bring deep job cost expertise, knowledge of construction risks, and the ability to anticipate issues, serving as the trusted financial resource for clients, Controllers, and CFOs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a multi-client CAS environment is strongly preferred.
• 6+ years of accounting experience with a strong focus on construction.
• Deep expertise in job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-project client work independently.
• Proficiency with construction accounting software (Sage, Procore, QuickBooks, ComputerEase, COINS, or similar).
• Demonstrated informal mentorship or knowledge-sharing with junior staff.
• Excellence in written and verbal communication with construction business owners.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of complex construction clients with minimal Controller or CFO oversight
• Maintain sophisticated job cost structures for multi-phase and multi-contract projects
• Maintain and review monthly WIP schedules including over/under billing analysis
• Lead AIA billing processes, draw request preparation, and retainage tracking
• Manage subcontractor compliance including lien waivers, insurance certificates, and 1099 preparation
• Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements with job-level and company-level variance analysis
• Independently identify and resolve complex job cost discrepancies and accounting issues
• Informally mentor Accountants on construction-specific accounting practices
• Support workers' compensation audit preparation and insurance reconciliations
• Develop and document process improvements for construction client accounting cycles
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls across client accounts
• Utilize current processes and tools, including code red alerts, to proactively identify and prevent fraud throughout all client accounting processes
• Meet or exceed billable hours goals while maintaining service excellence
