Job summary

Wagner Construction Inc. in Colorado is seeking a Construction Project Accountant I to protect company financials and ensure project documentation and payments comply with policy.

You will manage project accounting, track costs, support invoicing, administer change orders, and work with project managers to improve profitability and financial accuracy. A bachelor’s degree in accounting and strong cost control knowledge are required; occasional site visits may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent related experience.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting principles.
• Experience with project cost tracking, job costing, subcontract administration, purchase order administration, and invoice processing.
• Proficiency with construction accounting software.
• Understanding of construction processes, project phases, and industry standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with project teams and management.
• High attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Analyze costs and monitor financial tracking for assigned projects.
• Record all project costs including labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and overhead.
• Process and verify vendor and subcontractor invoices for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and issue subcontracts and change orders per contracts.
• Maintain subcontract files and change orders with supporting documentation.
• Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders and related records.
• Support invoicing based on project progress and contractual requirements.
• Administer CCIP requirements for assigned projects.
