Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of the construction job costing process, including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings on a large project.

You will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely, accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle, while managing vendor compliance, subcontracts, and payables to support successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3–5 years of project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong accounting knowledge; high attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
• Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs vs. budget.
• Processes project accounts payable and subcontracts payable.
• Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.
• Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through cost tracking reports.
• Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project budgets in COINs.
• Identifies and resolves project accounting issues in a timely manner.
