Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of construction job costing. You will categorize, record, analyze and monitor costs and billings for a major project while ensuring vendor compliance to manage project risk.

Work closely with the Project Manager to deliver timely and accurate accounting throughout the project life cycle, including cost tracking, budget reconciliation and reporting to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years’ of project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong accounting knowledge.
• Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
• Confidentiality and discretion in handling information.
• MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
• Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
• Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s
• Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through jobs cost tracking reports.
• Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
• Identifies and resolves project-related accounting issues in a timely manner.
