Job summary

Aston Carter seeks a Project Accountant for a Dublin, OH contract-to-hire engagement on large construction projects. You will manage full-cycle cost controls, change orders, subcontractor coordination, and reporting to stakeholders.

Ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in a related field and 1+ year in project accounting within construction; 13+ years in cost/PM roles preferred; proficiency with Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud; strong data integrity and contractual interpretation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of project accounting or finance experience in construction.
• 13+ years of experience in a project management, cost management, or accounting role within the commercial construction industry.
• Thorough understanding of construction accounting principles and practices.
• Hands-on experience with the full change order lifecycle, including initiation, review, processing, and closeout.
• Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Experience with project accounting, including reconciliation and data entry in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to interpret and apply contractual terms related to change orders, claims, and commercial entitlements.

Responsibilities

• Support full-cycle cost management for large construction projects from concept through completion.
• Facilitate and manage the subcontractor change management process.
• Process change orders in the system of record with high data integrity.
• Perform audit and transactional finance support activities with accuracy and compliance.
• Support the preparation and presentation of monthly cost reports and risk assessments.
• Participate in monthly stakeholder meetings with data-driven insights on cost performance.
• Review and interpret contractual terms to recommend entitlements related to change orders and claims.
• Coordinate with client finance and accounting teams for accurate reporting and compliance.
• Analyze and report on local labor markets, union implications, and tax impacts for cost strategy.
• Resolve invoice and change order discrepancies with subcontractors and project teams.
