Job summary

Scorpio is a team of experienced construction management professionals dedicated to building projects that strengthen communities and enhance the places where people live and work. We are seeking a Project Accountant to support project financial management from start-up through close-out, partnering with Project Managers and the Financial Management Team.

The role focuses on maintaining and analyzing job cost ledgers, monitoring costs vs estimates, and coordinating progress billings.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in job cost or project accounting.
• Understanding of WIP schedules, percentage‑of‑completion accounting, and change orders.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably Sage Intacct.
• Exposure to construction payroll processes and time-tracking software is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data modeling).
• Familiarity with Procore or project management software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, analyze, and reconcile job cost ledgers and expenses.
• Monitor costs against budgets and report variances.
• Coordinate progress billings based on percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition.
• Review subcontractor pay applications.
• Assist with payroll processing and job costing allocations; track labor burden.
• Suggest process improvements to refine job costing and controls.
• Assist with month‑end close and support audits.
