Job summary

Sunstall Inc. is seeking a Project Accountant to support project financial management from start-up through close-out, partnering with Project Managers and the Financial Management Team.

You will maintain and analyze jobcost ledgers, monitor costs against budgets, and assist with subcontractor pay apps, payroll costing, and month-end close. The role emphasizes accuracy, internal controls, and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused on job cost or project accounting.
• Understanding of WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, and change order management preferred.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred).
• Exposure to construction payroll processes, wage allocations, or time-tracking software is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling).
• Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore) is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, analyze, and reconcile job cost ledgers with accurate expense allocation.
• Monitor actual costs against estimates and budgets; report variances.
• Coordinate with project managers to create progress billings based on % complete revenue recognition.
• Review and process subcontractor pay applications.
• Assist with payroll processing and cost allocations; track labor burden and payroll reporting.
• Seek process improvements to refine job costing and internal controls.
• Assist with month-end close processes.
• Support internal and external audits.

• UnderstandingofWIPschedules,percentage-of-completionaccounting,andchangeordermanagementstronglypreferred
• ProficiencywithenterpriseERPsystems(SageIntacctpreferably)
• Exposuretoconstructionpayrollprocesses,wageallocations,ortime-trackingsoftware(e.g.,MiterorintegratedERPpayrollmodules)isaplus
