Job summary

Scorpio is seeking a skilled Project Accountant to support project financial management from startup through close-out. You will work closely with Project Managers and the Financial Management Team to ensure accurate job costing and lifecycle tracking.

Responsibilities include reconciling job cost ledgers, monitoring variances, processing subcontractor pay, and assisting with payroll and audits. Ideal candidates have 3–5+ years in project accounting and strong Excel/ERP skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in job cost or project accounting.
• Strong understanding of WIP schedules, % of completion, and change order management.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably Sage Intacct.
• Exposure to construction payroll processes, wage allocations, or time-tracking software.
• Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables and complex formulas.
• Familiarity with Procore or similar project management software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, analyze, and reconcile job cost ledgers and allocate expenses accurately.
• Monitor actual costs against estimates and budgets; report variances.
• Coordinate with PMs to create progress billings based on percentage of completion.
• Review and process subcontractor pay applications.
• Assist with processing or reviewing project payroll and job costing allocations.
• Refine processes to improve costing accuracy and internal controls.
• Assist with month-end close processes.
• Support internal and external audits.

• UnderstandingofWIPschedules,percentage-of-completionaccounting,andchangeordermanagementstronglypreferred
• ProficiencywithenterpriseERPsystems(SageIntacctpreferably)
• Exposuretoconstructionpayrollprocesses,wageallocations,ortime-trackingsoftware(e.g.,MiterorintegratedERPpayrollmodules)isaplus
