Job summary

M. J. Electric, LLC in the United States is seeking a Project Accountant who will manage the financial health of construction projects and provide accounting support to operations.

You will work closely with project managers, prepare forecasts, analyze variances, and ensure accurate billing and reporting. The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance, familiarity with GAAP, budgeting/forecasting methods, and JDE; 1–3 years in construction finance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance is required.
• Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting methods.
• Experience with construction billing (AIA forms, retainage, etc.).
• Ability to collect and assemble data for financial reports.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with team members.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and JDE.
• Ability to analyze data and solve complex problems.
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy of reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage the financial health of specific projects by tracking costs, budgets, and variances.
• Work with project managers to provide financial advice and support.
• Forecast reports for reasonableness and variance explanations.
• Investigate revenue and profit variances for accurate reporting.
• Oversee input of contracts, cost budgets, change orders, and PO into JDE.
• Process and track invoices, payments, and change orders.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms and billing schedules.
• Monitor AR aged trial balance and assist with past due invoices.
• Coordinate job setups and close-outs timely.
• Assist Project Controller with forecast entries and reporting.
• Support audit information gathering as required.
