Job summary

Barton Malow is seeking a Project Accountant to support our project teams delivering major construction programs across sports, education, healthcare, and aerospace sectors in Michigan and beyond.

You will analyze and resolve project accounting issues, process payables, reconcile job costs, and support monthly owner pay applications and reporting, ensuring accuracy and fiduciary compliance on complex builds.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in construction cost analysis, project accounting, or project controls.
• Understanding of job costing, owner billing, and change orders.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Ability to analyze, identify, and resolve AR/AP issues.
• Ability to balance a project team role with financial controls and fiduciary responsibilities.
• Ability to recognize and communicate project risks and understand construction delivery methods.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and resolve project accounting issues, processing payables in compliance with contractual and accounting standards.
• Reconcile job cost to ensure accurate owner billing, and communicate cost variances to the project team.
• Perform monthly owner pay applications and required project reporting.
• Reconcile accounts receivable, provide billing accruals, and audit aged accounts with the project team.
• Support project budget setup, reviewing mark‑ups and price conditions for accuracy.
• Analyze forecasting and cost reviews with project teams, identifying risk and its impact on project financials.
