Job summary

Novak Construction Company is seeking a full-time Project Accountant to support the financial management of commercial construction projects from startup through closeout. This role partners closely with Project Managers and Operations teams to monitor project costs, process billings and payments, and maintain accurate financial records.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
• Understanding of job cost accounting, construction billing, and project financial management principles.
• Experience with ERP/construction management software is preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Manage project accounting activities from startup through closeout for assigned construction projects.
• Process subcontractor invoices, owner billings, lien waivers, and supporting project documentation.
• Monitor project costs, budgets, commitments, and forecasts to ensure financial accuracy.
• Partner with Project Managers and Operations teams to support project financial performance and reporting.
• Maintain accurate project accounting records and support month-end close activities.
• Assist with audits, compliance requirements, and financial reporting requests.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies while providing excellent internal and external customer service.
