Job summary

Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. is hiring a Project Accountant in Grand Rapids, MI to support billing, cash flow, and project financials. You will work with PMs, the Controller, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure accurate reporting and contract compliance.

The role emphasizes analytical thinking, attention to detail, and collaboration across teams to deliver financially sound projects in a construction environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years accounting experience, construction/project accounting preferred.
• Associate's or Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance/Business Admin preferred.
• Experience with AIA billing and lien waivers a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills; ability to learn ERP systems like Acumatica.
• Strong analytical, financial reasoning and attention to detail.
• Excellent organization, time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly owner billings, including AIA forms and docs.
• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on invoices to maintain cash flow.
• Maintain accurate project accounting records per policy.
• Analyze project costs and variances with PMs to improve performance.
• Process contracts, subcontracts, POs, change orders, and related docs.
• Verify lien waivers, insurance certificates, and W-9s for compliance.
• Collaborate with customers, subs, suppliers and internal teams on financial data.
• Support project closeouts with final billings and required docs.
• Assist month-end close, reconciliations, audits and reporting.
• Contribute to process improvements for efficiency and controls.
