Job summary

The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead and coordinate consultant construction managers on complex collection system and facility improvement projects.

You will ensure compliance with contract documents, review change orders, and provide technical oversight and leadership within a multi-department team. Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management and several years of construction management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field and minimum four years in construction management/engineering, or an associate degree with eight years progressively responsible experience.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills for cross-department coordination.
• Comprehensive knowledge of District regulations and procedures related to construction.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering plans and specifications.
• Experience maintaining records and preparing technical reports.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to interact with contractors, engineers, officials and the public.

Responsibilities

• Manage consultant construction managers performing work of considerable difficulty and coordinate with other District departments.
• Verify that the construction conforms to the contract documents.
• Evaluate/review change order claims and contractor submittals.
• Prepare technical reports concerning construction and engineering problems and solutions.
• Perform construction observation and field inspections to determine existing conditions.
• May meet with government officials, consultants, and the general public to communicate District policies and responsibilities.
• May oversee Construction Management Team on projects; supervise subordinates when required.
