Job summary

Hunt Valley Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage weekly payroll activities and certified payroll submissions in-office in Owings Mills, MD.

You will oversee payroll processing, verify time submissions, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements. Ideal candidates will have construction payroll experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of payroll experience, including certified payroll.
• Hands-on construction payroll experience required.
• Experience preparing and submitting certified payroll reports.
• At least two years in HR or related administrative work.
• Experience with Traspera, Trimble, or similar systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Current notary certification.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and on schedule.
• Collect and review employee time submissions through Traspera and Trimble.
• Review timesheets, attendance, regular hours, overtime, deductions, garnishments, and benefits.
• Prepare payroll summaries, reconciliations, and reports.
• Maintain organized payroll records and coordinate with Accounting/HR Director.
• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for applicable projects.
• Track due dates and submission requirements for certified payroll.
• Communicate with project staff for corrections.
• Assist with requests from clients and government agencies.
