Job summary

Jobot, a leading civil construction company, is seeking a senior payroll & HR specialist to oversee weekly payroll for 500 employees across California. The role requires accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of hours, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.

You will manage union payroll, wage laws, and HR operations, partnering with field leadership and Finance to maintain payroll controls and open enrollment, while supporting onboarding to offboarding.

Qualifications

• Experience leading weekly payroll processing for large teams.
• Knowledge of hourly and salaried employee payroll.
• Familiarity with union payroll and collective bargaining agreements.
• Knowledge of California wage and hour laws.

Responsibilities

• Payroll Management: Lead and manage the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll for approximately 500 employees across California.
• Oversee full-cycle payroll for hourly and salaried employees, including hours, overtime, bonuses, deductions.
• Manage complex union payroll and ensure compliance with union agreements and contributions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, California state, and local wage and hour laws.
• Coordinate payroll tax reporting, garnishments, benefits withholdings, and retirement contributions.
• Maintain employee data in HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping systems.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and inquiries in a timely manner.
• Lead HR operations: onboarding, changes, performance management, offboarding.
• Support HR policies, benefits administration, and annual open enrollment.
• Develop payroll controls and improve processes with Finance and Operations.
