Job summary

Burdick Painting is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Labor Compliance Manager to oversee weekly payroll for hourly and field workers and ensure compliance with California wage and hour laws. The role emphasizes timekeeping, prevailing wage, certified payroll, and reporting for public works, with involvement in onboarding, inquiries, and cross-functional collaboration with People/HR and Finance.

Experience with Paycom, Assignar, Sage Intacct, HCM and/or Criterion is preferred; bilingual

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of payroll experience required.
• Construction industry experience is required.
• Process payroll for exempt & non-exempt employees.
• Working knowledge of California wage and hour laws, including overtime, meals, sick leave, and final pay.
• Experience with prevailing wage and certified payroll is required.
• Experience with Paycom, Assignar, Sage Intacct, HCM and/or Criterion.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll accurately and on time for hourly and field employees.
• Review wage determinations, employee classifications, wage rates, and fringe benefits for accuracy.
• Prepare certified payroll reports using systems such as LCP Tracker and DIR.
• Assist with onboarding and terminations.
• Partner with People/HR and Finance to ensure clean employee data and accurate accounting.
