Job summary

G&C Equipment Corporation in Gardena, CA is seeking an Accounting & Payroll Specialist to manage payroll, billing, and accounts receivable in a fast-paced construction environment.

The role supports union payroll processing, prepares reports, reviews timecards, and ensures compliance with wage agreements while maintaining confidentiality and accurate records. Strong Excel/Paychex experience is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of accounting, payroll, or bookkeeping experience.
• Experience processing payroll for construction or union employees preferred.
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks and Paychex or similar payroll systems.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to prioritize deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with union funds, halls, customers, and internal staff for hiring and onboarding union employees.
• Review employment documentation and hiring paperwork.
• Collect, review, and reconcile employee timecards for weekly payroll processing.
• Process weekly payroll using Paychex with accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports per wage and public works requirements.
• Prepare customer invoices for payroll and labor services; assist with project billing.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Process monthly union benefit contributions and dues; maintain payroll records with confidentiality.
• Provide general accounting support to the Accounting Department.
